iCAS 2024
International Computing in the Atmospheric Sciences Symposium
8:00 am MDT
The biennial International Computing in the Atmospheric Sciences (iCAS) Symposium brings together an international group of center directors and global experts from the atmospheric and related geosciences communities to discuss advances in the ever-changing computing landscape. We are at a moment where the integration of diverse scientific disciplines and international collaboration is essential for significant advancements in Earth system science. iCAS 2024 aims to foster an environment where collaborative efforts will be developed to lead to new innovative solutions.
Call for Participation
The call for participation is now closed. Information about the iCAS program and registration is coming soon.
The theme for iCAS 2024 is Interdisciplinary and International Collaboration for Advancing Earth System Science, and we invite you to contribute your presentation and insights to the iCAS 2024 program. At iCAS 2024, we are particularly looking for thought-provoking and forward-looking presentations around
- The development and modernization of climate and weather models, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches and international cooperation.
- The role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in Earth system science, and how these technologies benefit from and contribute to collaborative international efforts.
- Strategies and advancements in data curation, sharing, and analysis that exemplify the power of international standards and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Case studies and experiences in fostering a collaborative and interdisciplinary workforce.
- Innovative practices in energy efficiency and sustainability in computational sciences, highlighting the intersection of technology and environmental stewardship.
iCAS plans to become a platform for open knowledge exchange, networking, and the initiation of long-lasting collaborations. Attendees will include leadership and management from centers focused on weather/climate modeling, computing and data services, who will hear about and discuss practices you can apply at your center, discover new sources of expertise, benefit from lessons learned by your peers, and identify opportunities for collaboration. The symposium will feature presentations and panel discussions all aimed at fostering dialogue and collaboration.
The iCAS program committee is seeking presentations and panel discussions for the symposium agenda. Interested presenters and panel organizers should submit an abstract for their proposed topic(s) by February 28.
- Presentations will have a 30-minute time slot, including Q&A. Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the program committee. Speakers for accepted presentations will be notified by April 30.
- Panel discussions will have 60-minute time slots. Panel organizers should include a description of the topic and a preliminary panel roster. Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the program committee and organizers notified by April 1. Organizers of accepted panels will be asked to confirm panelist participation by April 30.
