Group Leader & Diversity, Education, and Outreach Specialist

AJ is CISL's Diversity, Education, and Outreach Specialist in the Outreach Services Group. She has over ten years of experience working with college students at various types of universities including Hispanic Serving Institutions, a Big 10, and a STEM school. As DEO Specialist she will manage the SIParCS program and contribute to NCAR's diversity efforts. AJ is a Wisconsin native and loves cheese and frozen custard as much as you probably think she would.

Brian helps people effectively communicate the value of their work. He provides a wide range of services for CISL: project management, writing, editing, photography, outreach, and mentoring. His formal education in language and rhetoric combines with 40 years of experience producing information products for the computing industry: engineering, manufacturing, marketing, news, and user manuals for multiple generations of high performance computing systems and scientific visualization software. In the 1990s, Brian developed a learner-centered course in technical communication and worked nine years part time in continuing education. Brian also performs many outreach activities, and he has 20 years of experience as a writing mentor for early-career scientists.

Eliott is a native of North Carolina, and he moved to Colorado to pursue Master’s degree in atmospheric science. Upon graduating, Eliott began working as a photojournalist where he covered a variety of topics from ranging from culture to sports. While working as a photojournalist, Eliott cultivated a passion for communicating information through visual storytelling. Eliott continues to apply these skills as he works within the Outreach Services Group at NCAR.
