Abstract

Since almost 20 years the European NWP and climate communities joind with all major HPC system vendors to provide access to all major codes for benchmarking and observing the technical development foci. This effort is ongoing and some of the participating institutions are providing regular benchmarks. Most prominently, in the last couple of years, ECMWF, DWD, and MPI-M used this opportunity.

One expectation on the original idea, the presentation of the vendors on their results, is usually not happening. However, this would be a great surplus on the communities development directions.

The RAPS benchmark set of MPI-M and the ideas behind will be presented.

An outlook of IS-ENES sponsered improvements on the RAPS Portal will be given.
