SIParCS - Project Opportunities/Apply

(Applicants must be available May 19 through August 1, 2014 for participation in the program)

SIParCS mentors submit ideas for summer intern projects. Projects are arranged by categories, and you may apply for a first choice and a second choice.  By selecting a second choice project, you will be helping us to place you in the program.  Please keep this in mind as you are reviewing the categories and statements of work.

To browse the Summer 2014 projects, please select a category.  You will be able to view the project description and apply online. You may apply for up to two projects, indicating first or second choice in the online application.

Application Instructions

Please complete the following:

  • Select a category to view the project titles.  
  • To apply for a project, click on 'Apply Now'. You may choose to apply for up to two projects, and will need to complete an application for each one individually. Please indicate 'first choice', 'second choice' on each application.
  • Please upload one (1) PDF document with the three required components below, to your online application.  
  • You must answer all questions on the application, including providing the names and email addresses for two recommending faculty members.


Required SIParCS application materials (please submit one (1) PDF document with required components 1 through 3):

  1. Letter of SIParCS Interest, no more than two pages in length indicating which of the SIParCS projects you are interested in, and why.
  2. CV or resume
  3. Copy of most recent university transcript (official transcript not necessary).
  4. Contact information for two recommending faculty members. The SIParCS office will contact them directly for letters of recommendation.


Summer Intern Benefits

  • SIParCS Interns are paid $15.35/hour for undergraduate and $17.50 for graduate students.
  • UCAR casual benefits apply, including a regional bus pass, AD&D and Worker’s Compensation coverage.
  • Housing is provided to interns.*
  • One round-trip airfare or mileage, whichever is less, is provided from points of origin within the United States.


*Provided housing is taxed through payroll based on the intern’s W-4 withholding status as selected at the time of UCAR orientation.
