Overview of the DoD HPCMP, PETTT, Select Projects, and Upcoming Interests

Sean Ziegeler
Engility Corporation

The DoD High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) provides HPC capability to DoD scientists and engineers.  Within the HPCMP, the Productivity Enhancement, Technology Transfer and Training (PETTT) program assists DoD HPC users in optimally utilizing HPCMP resources. An overview of the HPCMP and PETTT will be provided, along with a synopsis of current HPC projects and anticipated areas of interest for future collaborations. Such areas can include profiling methods and tools, performance optimization, programming for next-generation architectures, parallel I/O, multi-scale modeling, data science and analytics, and visualization, among others.

Sean Ziegeler coordinates DoD HPC computational scientists at Navy locations in the continental U.S. and leads members of the PETTT program's Advanced Computational Environments (ACE) technology area.  He also provides technical guidance to DoD HPC users and HPC center staff in the areas of parallel I/O, performance optimization, performance profiling, visualization and analysis, emerging computational technology, and general parallel computing.  Sean has been involved with the DoD HPCMP in various capacities for over 20 years and joined a predecessor of Engility as a contractor for the HPCMP in 2006.  He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Mississippi State University.
