NWSC resources and background

The resources provided in the table below give a brief overview of NCAR's HPC systems, including the current computing environment, the Cheyenne workload and usage analysis, and the Globally Accessible Data Environment (GLADE).

NCAR's current computing environment

An overview of NCAR's computing environment is provided via the Cheyenne System link. These systems are installed at the NWSC in Cheyenne, Wyoming. They were put into production in January 2017 and are expected to run through 2022. The successor NWSC-3 systems will also be installed at the Cheyenne facility.

Cheyenne workload and usage analysis

CISL has prepared a Cheyenne workload analysis to help provide insights into how the current HPC environment is being used. This information may be useful to those who are considering a submission to the NWSC-3 solicitation.

GLADE

CISL has also prepared a description of the current NCAR GLADE environment to provide additional details on the current hardware and software infrastructure and connectivity.
