NCAR Director Jim Hurrell announced today that Anke Kamrath, who has been serving as Acting Director for CISL since the passing of Al Kellie, would assume the role of Interim Director until the international search to fill the position is complete.

Anke has been director of CISL's Operations and Services Division since 2009. Prior to coming to NCAR she worked for 22 years at the San Diego Supercomputer Center at the University of California, San Diego in a variety of leadership positions. She has over 29 years experience in supporting, operating, deploying and managing world-class supercomputing resources. Prior to her experience in supercomputing, Anke worked as a rocket scientist at the Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, California. She holds a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from U.C. Berkeley.

"I would like to extend my thanks and gratitude to Anke Kamrath for serving as Acting Director of CISL since early September," said Jim Hurrell in a letter to staff. "She has done an excellent job in leading CISL forward during the difficult period following Al Kellie's sudden passing. With Anke as Interim Director, I am confident CISL will continue to strategically deliver world-class computing and information facilities and resources to our community."

Anke will oversee CISL and also serve as Security Chief Information Officer (SCIO) for UCAR, helping the institution in its move toward Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) compliance.

The international search for the CISL Director position will be initiated early in 2017, and Anke will remain in the Interim Director role until a new permanent Director of CISL is appointed.
