Annecy Travel Information

To get to the iCAS2017 Workshop site at the L' Imperial Palace Hotel in Annecy, France, you may choose to fly into Paris or Geneva. Listed below are various modes of travel and directions to assist you in arriving at the Workshop.

PARIS to Annecy by train

If you choose to fly into Paris and take a train, we've found that the scenery is wonderful and the trains are clean and comfortable. It's about a 3 ½ hour trip.

From the Charles de Gaulle or Paris Orly airports, travel to the downtown train station (Gare de Lyon). There is a TGV (rapid train) that leaves the Gare de Lyon station for Annecy several times daily. The one way train costs approximately 75-100 Euros per person. You must make reservations for the TGV. These can be made with any travel agency.

GENEVA to Annecy by airport shuttle

A shared or private shuttle from the Geneva airport.

GENEVA to Annecy by bus

It is also possible to take a bus from the Geneva Airport to Annecy. You take a train (~ 15 minutes) from the airport to Main Geneva Train Station at the city center - 2.2 Swiss Francs. Then walk 3 or 4 blocks (~10 minutes) from the Train station (Gare CFF) to Main Geneva Bus Terminal (Gare routiere de Geneve).  
Next, take a bus from Geneva to Annecy Bus Station - 14 Swiss Francs. 
Then catch a taxi from Annecy Bus Station to Imperial Palace Hotel - 11 Euros. 

The bus from Geneva to Annecy departs every 2 hours and the travel time is approximately 1 hr 15 minutes.

GENEVA to Annecy by car

You may also choose to fly into Geneva and rent a car. This is fairly easy to do. Please check with your Car Rental Company of choice.

When leaving the airport in Geneva, follow the green signs to France.
Follow these signs on the Swiss motorway until the customs “BARDONNEX”,
After the border zone follow Annecy on the A41 motorway (blue sign postings once you cross the border).
Exit 17 – “ANNECY NORD”
Then you will begin to see signs of L’IMPERIAL PALACE / CASINO / CENTRE DE CONGRES

This drive will take you about 30-40 minutes.

The toll road is before Exit 17.

They do take credit cards. The one way toll was approximately 5.90euros.

Geneva to Annecy by taxi

It is also possible to take a taxi from the Geneva airport to Annecy.
The cost is approximately 105 Euro – one way.
