Recent Machine Learning Methods and Their Potential for CI

Lawrence Carin, Duke University

In this talk we will review recent developments in machine learning, including tensor analysis, kernel methods and deep learning. The review is placed within the context of the potential for application to climate informatics. Methods and model building will be discussed, as well as modern techniques for efficient large-scale learning and inference.
