Computing and visualization at DKRZ

Niklas Roeber, German Climate Computing Center

The DKRZ (German Climate Computing Center) in Hamburg and NCAR have many things in common. We not only share our field of research, but also face similar problems and issues. At DKRZ we just installed a new HPC system from Bull, and in my presentation I will talk about this new system and the changes required for the DKRZ infrastructure. I will also provide a brief overview of our work and organization, and tell you about the models and grids we use for simulating the climate. As my background is more in computer science and visualization, I will specifically focus on current data visualization and analysis projects, as well as discuss our future plans for the visualization of very large climate data sets.
